- This wire is made of pure copper and was used in early stage of EDM. -
Low tensile strength, high elongation rate, excessive breakage rate -
Poor Flushing condition due to high evaporation temperature -
Slow processing speed due to high conductivity : Slow melting and low efficiency due to heat absorbed by wire instead of work piece
|
 |
|
- Alloy ratio of copper and zinc 65/35 - 63/37, tensile strength 50,000-145,000 psi - High tensile strength compared with copper wire
- Excellent Flushing due to low evaporation temperature -
Wires with a few amount of Aluminum or Titanium have high tensile strength but flushing efficiency is deteriorated.

 |
| The wire with
constant thickness of zinc coated on the surface of
brass wire
|
 |
| The wire which
gets zinc coated on the surface of brass wire and get
heat treated making coated zinc to be melted and to
be attached tightly to brass wire
|
| - Zinc usually
being used as coating and alloy material, is to increase
cutting speedand to
decrease the possibility of breakage.
- Zinc enhances flushing efficiency with its low evaporation
temperature comparedwith brass.
- Coated or diffusion annealed zinc performs the role
of protecting brass, so possibility of wire
breakage is drastically decreased.
